Brainspotting is a powerful and effective approach to healing and wellness that harnesses the nervous system’s ability to reorganize and realign itself, enhancing resilience and facilitating change. Discovered in 2003 by psychotherapist Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting accesses the brain-body’s innate self-scanning and self-healing capacities in the context of neurobiological and relational attunement. In Brainspotting, a person’s brain-body activation around a particular issue is paired with a relevant eye position, called a Brainspot, that locates, processes and releases trauma, allowing the brain-body system to regain homeostasis.

Become an Advanced Certified Brainspotting Therapist

Requirements include: Phase 1: 3-day Course, Phase 2: 3-day Course, 50 documented hours of clinical practice utilizing Brainspotting and a minimum of 6 hours of consultation by an approved Consultant or Trainer where you demonstrate competence with model and Phase 3: 3-day Course.

Brainspotting Phase 3: 3 is an advanced training in Brainspotting.  Four new Brainspotting techniques will be taught including Advanced Gazespotting, Combined Inside/Outside Window BSP, Doublespotting, Advanced Z Axis BSP (Brainsweeps and Proximity) and Partspotting.  In addition, BSP Performance and Creativity Expansion will be taught with emphasis on the Sports Trauma Model and its treatment with BSP.

Course Objectives

Day One 9:00 am to 12:45pm:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Construct Advanced Resource Accepting with their clients with step-by- step instructions.
  2. Originate Advanced Activated Gazespotting
  3. Plan how to guide their clients to pendulate back and forth between the Activated (more difficult) Gaze-Spot and the Resource Gaze-spot.

Day One 2:00 pm to 6:00pm:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Design how to do advanced Brainspotting sweeps on the Z Axis (Close and Far) to titrate clients from the Brainspots that are more activated to more resourcing. This will help participants not to overwhelm their clients. Participants will be able to slowly move back and forth (close and far) in order to bring the entire level of their client’s disturbance down.
  2. Appraise which clients can benefit from Advanced Brain Sweeps on the Z Axis.
  3. Role-play Advanced Z Axis by doing a practicum as both the “client” and the “therapist”, thus allowing a deeper internalization in using this type of Brainspotting with their clients.

Day Two 9 to 12:45pm

Participants will be able to:

  1. Utilize Double Brainspotting with their clients who may not be able to get the best results with only Resource Brainspotting or only Activated Brainspotting. Participants will be able to gently pendulate their clients from the more traumatized Brainspot to the more Resourced area in the visual field.
  2. Formulate Double Spotting with their clients after learning step by step directions and practicing as both the “client” and the “therapist”.
  3. Conclude which clients will most likely benefit from Double-Spotting.

Day Two 2:00pm to 6:00pm

Participants will be able to:

  1. Utilize “Part Spotting” with their Dissociative Clients and DID clients in order to facilitate higher functioning of their healthy parts and asking harmful parts to take a step back.
  2. Develop “Part-Spotting” with high functioning clients as well as the most dissociative and fragile clients.
  3. Role-play their own experience with the power of Part-Spotting to get their stuck clients moving forward towards a higher functioning life.

Day Three 9:00am to 12:45pm

  1. Compose an effective Intake Process with their competitive athlete clients who have Sports Trauma.
  2. Manipulate numerous Expansion Brainspots to help their athletic performer clients, who desire to improve their performance and alleviate the negative impact form their Sports injuries, humiliations and rejections.
  3. Judge how to release long held Sports traumas impeding sports performance, heal the “Yips”, and be proficient at expanding their client’s performances by utilizing numerous Expansion Brainspots.

Day Three 2:00 pm to 6:00pm

  1. Produce effective Intakes with Creative clients desiring to improve their creative abilities or performances.
  2. Develop numerous Expansion Spots such as “best performance spots” or the “most relaxed performances spots” or “character spots” with their creative clients to achieve their desired creative performances or outcomes.
  3. Create the Brainspotting Frame with Creative Performers in order to maximize healing and improve performance to the desired level
