After eighteen years in the medical field, I began the journey to become a clinical mental health counselor. I received a Master of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in 2015. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Certified Community Mental Health Counselor, a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider, and a Certified Mental Health Integrative Health Practitioner. I am licensed in the states of Maine (License number CC7249), North Carolina (License number 19295), South Carolina (License number 6895), and Georgia (License number LPC012207), and I am a registered Florida Telehealth Provider (Registration number 833). I am the owner of Foothold Counseling, LLC.
Prior to beginning my private practice, I completed my practicum and both internships at Lexington County Community Mental Health Center in Lexington, South Carolina. I worked with clients with issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizotypal disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and numerous personality disorders.
I currently work with individuals on a wide range of personal, developmental, and mental health concerns. I enjoy working with individuals with adoption-related issues, issues related to divorce, trauma, and issues related to spirituality. My goal is for my clients to feel heard and I seek to create a therapeutic environment where trust, autonomy, and personal strengths are core to the therapeutic relationship. Although I utilize therapies that are the best fit for my clients, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy are most influential in my work. I am also a practitioner instructor at Wake Forest University.
I live with my husband in Lexington, South Carolina. We have two adult children. My hobbies include reading, saltwater reefing, learning new things, kayaking, and spoiling my yellow Labrador, Leo.
