I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and I am passionate about my work. I am inspired by diversity and the strength of the human psyche. Every day brings new people into my life that enriches me as a person and therapist. The relationship I have with my patient is of great importance to me. My aim is to help the individuals find a sense of self amongst the disarray of their symptoms. The self so easily gets misrepresented by symptoms and the true person does not have a voice. Qualifications Alumni
I received my pre-graduate qualifications at the University of Pretoria and postgraduate training at the University of the Free State (as Marise Michels). I completed my internship year at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital and my community service at Tshwane District Hospital.
Employment Career
In 2013 and 2014 I was employed as a part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria. I often consult at Denmar Psychiatric Hospital in Garsfontein. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA – Pr No: 0437573), and I work with individuals and families experiencing a variety of difficulties.
