She worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Mental Health Therapist for Great Lakes Recovery Centers for five years. JoAnne also served as the first in-school mental health therapist placed in Marquette Area Public Schools that was grant-funded through the state of Michigan. Her placement was dedicated to providing mental health care to the general education population within the Marquette School system.
JoAnne offers a unique combination of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, helping her clients to face their struggles and meet their goals. She combines traditional methods of talk therapy, (cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based, strengths-based techniques, written exposure therapy, acceptance commitment therapy and motivational interviewing) with experiential mind/body therapy known as Brainspotting. Brainspotting has become an integral part of JoAnne’s treatment approach, which she will often weave in as a supplemental component to her clients’ treatment. JoAnne is a lover of the outdoors and believes that movement and nature are powerful when it comes to finding balance and healing ourselves.
