Frequently Asked Questions
Who needs to apply for approval?
Approved Brainspotting Consultants who wish to lead a Workshop or Consultation Group that integrates Brainspotting with another modality or is designed for a specific population must apply through the Specialty Workshop Committee. Specialty Workshops and Specialty Consultation Groups can be led by Approved Brainspotting Trainers and Approved Brainspotting Consultants only.
What is the Specialty Workshop Committee?
The committee is composed of volunteer Brainspotting Trainers who review applications on behalf of David Grand. Their role is to ensure workshops and consultation groups align with the most current Brainspotting principles.
What does the approval process look like?
The process generally includes the following steps:
- Step 1: Complete the application.
- Step 2: Applications received by the 1st of the month will receive an initial response by the end of the same month.
(Example: Applications completed between June 15 and July 1 will be reviewed by the end of July.) - Step 3: If the committee recommends approval, the application is sent to David Grand for final decision.
- Step 4: If approved, Specialty Workshop presenters will receive a contract from Brainspotting Trainings, LLC and a logo for promotional use. Group Consultation applicants will not receive a contract but will receive the approved Logo from the committee.
- Step 5: If revisions are needed, the timeline will depend on your response time and the number of applications in review. The committee will aim to respond promptly; however, applicants must respond within 30 days of the committee’s revision request or the application will be considered incomplete and the process will need to be restarted
What happens if my application needs revisions?
If revisions are requested, the approval timeline will depend on:
- How quickly you respond
- The number of other applications in process
The committee will continue to work efficiently to support your application. Please keep in mind that consistent communication during the revision process is critical.
What do I receive upon final approval?
You will receive:
- A contract from Brainspotting Trainings, LLC (For Specialty Workshops Only)
- An official Brainspotting logo for use in advertising your workshop or consultation group
