I am passionate about providing authentic and quality services to those I work with.
I am from Colorado but lived a few different places before returning here in 2000. I experienced a lot of childhood adversity and had a very non traditional upbringing. I was sent to a variety of mental health professionals and some were helpful and some were not. I decided at a young age I wanted to go into a helping profession but I wanted to make sure I was being affective in my work.
I moved back to Colorado at 21 to attend Fort Lewis College and obtained a degree in Sociology/ Human services. In my studies I spend a lot of time studying social justice, spent some time living in Mexico, and in the summers spent time leading young people in trail crews and briefly worked for a wilderness drug rehab program. After undergraduate, I moved to Fort Collins in where I worked in a residential treatment center for children and attended graduate school at Colorado State University where I received a Masters in Social Work in 2007.
I moved to the metro area 2007 to work for a non profit agency coordinating a program that supports relatives raising relative children due to their biological parents not being able to. I became a Licensed Social Worker in 2009 and then after 2 years of supervision became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2011. Then, I decided to work full time as a therapist in community mental health. I realized I had a knack for mental health therapy through the feedback I received from numerous clients and their families. I also worked for the school district for 10 years helping students that had significant needs. I decided to launch a private practice in order to be able to practice therapy authentically.
I have been told that it is my professional but creative and honest approach in working with others that has been very beneficial in helping others heal. I am told by my colleagues that I have a lot of knowledge in evidenced based practices and a very talented clinician. I have received a lot of recognition from coworkers and have been asked to do numerous trainings for others. I also co-authored an article published in the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships. I began incorporating Brainspotting into my practice in 2022. It has been such a useful tool to be able to provide to those I have the privilege to work with on their healing journey. I feel very fortunate to work in an industry that I love.
In my spare time I am a single mother of 2 teenagers and love watching them grow. I am an animal lover and have a dog and a rabbit. I enjoy both indoor and outdoor gardening. I like to ski, paddle board, hike and travel when I can.
